About Arteriors
Stephanie and Amiel Mesner, Owners
When we started our company in the mid 80's, we were recent School of the Museum of
Fine Arts graduates and newlyweds. Stubbornness kept us pursuing an improbable vocation and
it was pregnancy that motivated our commitment to using only environmentally-friendly paint
materials. Ami and I were working on a faux marble project for two wooden columns. The process
involved the use of oil paint, turpentine and water; a very messy mix. I was four months pregnant
with our first baby and concern for our health prompted the decision that from then on we were
parting from oil paints, thinners and toxic ingredients.
At that time, all of the "recipes" for
faux finishing called for oil paint. There was no information on how to apply decorative finishes
using low VOC water based paints so we developed our own systems, becoming pioneers in the
use of acrylic house paints for this art form. More than twenty years later we remain
never very far from a brush and paint. Our home and our business are housed in our ninety-five
year-old New England farmhouse west of Boston.
The Arteriors' team also includes a small but
extremely talented and dedicated group of individuals who allow for projects to run smoothly
and efficiently. Talent, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and artistic sensibility
have all been important ingredients in making Arteriors a success. We love the transformative
power of our craft and we love working with you, our clients!
